Nine 9mm Rounds That Are Great for Training

Local shop out of 9mm? You’re not alone. It’s happening all over the country.

But don’t let that stop you from shooting. All you need is a high-quality, reliable 9mm round with an FMJ bullet that’s affordable. That’s pretty much it when it comes to high-volume target shooting.

On that note, check out these 9 9mm rounds that are great for target shooting.

They’re affordable, reliable, and some of them offer some other perks, too.

Norma 9mm 124-Grain FMJ

Norma 9mm is reliable, consistent, affordable, and reloadable. Definitely a top-tier ammo brand to throw into your rotation if you’ve never shot it before. By the way, mark this brand if you are looking for military calibers like 7.62 and 5.56, or rare rifle cartridges like .500 Jeffery. Norma loads them too.

Sellier & Bellot 124-Grain FMJ

Like Norma 9mm, Sellier & Bellot 9mm ammo is clean, consistent, and reliable even under a wide range of climatic conditions. It’s perfect for high-volume target shooting applications.

Speer Lawman 115-Grain TMJ

Speer Lawman ammo is great for high-volume target shooting and training and is highly reliable and non-corrosive. It’s loaded to match the performance of defense rounds, making these perfect surrogates for range training.

Federal American Eagle 124-Grain FMJ

Federal American Eagle FMJ 9mm ammo is reliable, consistent, non-corrosive, and loaded into high-quality brass cases that can be reloaded several times. Plus, if you buy a case of it, you can save substantially on the per-unit cost.

Remington UMC 115-Grain FMJ

This Remington 9mm ammo, like so many mentioned here, is affordable, reliable, and uses non-corrosive powder and primers. At 115 grains, it’s also somewhat lighter kicking than some of the other alternatives here, making it excellent for high-volume target shooting and training.

Venom 9mm Ammo

Don’t be turned away from 9mm ammo automatically just on the basis that it isn’t made in the United States. Turkish made Venom 9mm ammo exhibits uncommon quality, along with a few perks. Not only is it reliable, consistent, affordable, and accurate, but it is also loaded with high-quality, reloadable brass cases and uses non-corrosive powder and primers. It is also completely waterproof, thanks to a special crimp around the primer and casing rim.

Blazer Brass

CCI’s Blazer Brass 9mm is an excellent option for those that need affordability paired with reliability. Loaded to the same quality standards as other CCI and Speer Ammo, This Blazer ammunition is an excellent, reliable, low-cost option.

Blazer Aluminum

Cousin to Blazer Brass, Blazer Aluminum 9mm ammunition is reliable, non-corrosive, accurate, and highly affordable, even more so than Blazer Brass. There’s just one single caveat – you can’t reload it. So if your stakes are low-cost, high-volume shooting, this is an excellent option.

TulAmmo 9mm

Last but not least we have TulAmmo 9mm, which is produced at the Tula Cartridge Works in Russia. When it comes to low-cost target ammo, TulAmmo 9mm is one of the best options out there. It is cheap, reliable (it meets CIP certifications), and accurate, and is not loaded with corrosive primer or propellant. Since it’s loaded with annealed steel casings, you can’t reload it, but it also won’t hurt your gun.
