After receiving a request for a copy of the EICR report:
You are required to provide the local authority with a copy of the document within a period of seven days. You should keep a copy of the EICR report so that you can provide it to the inspector and tester who will carry out the subsequent inspection and test. In cases where the EICR report indicates that corrective or further investigative work is required, ensure that this work is finished within 28 days, or within any shorter period if the report indicates that this is what is required. Within twenty-eight days of the completion of the corrective works, the electrician is required to provide the renter and the local government with written confirmation that the work has been finished.
Multiple-occupancy electrical codes: Management regulations require landlords of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) with at least three tenants who are not from one household and share facilities like the bathroom and kitchen to test fixed electrical installations at least every five years by a qualified electrician.
