Grenades are very useful tools in Deep Rock Galactic. Just be careful not to hit your friends with them!
Many people think that Deep Rock Galactic is one of the best multiplayer shooters, right up there with Left 4 Dead and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. There are a lot of different grenades to choose from in this meaty game with beer and bugs.
Some of the 16 weapons in the game will kill those annoying Gyphids better than others. Deep Rock Galactic will have a grenade that fits your needs, whether you want one that sends out a dangerous neurotoxin or one that slows down enemies.
Impact Axe
The Impact Axe is the starter grenade for the Driller class, even though it doesn’t look like a normal hand-held explosive.
This bomb is different because it does three kinds of damage. Two of them are direct hits, and one affects a large area. The Impact Axe does 240 damage all together, and it can be taken back if the throw kills the target.
Cluster Grenade
The Cluster Grenades are great for thinning out the huge groups of Glyphids that will swarm, especially when the danger level is high. The biggest problem with using Cluster Grenades is that they can be very dangerous to other dwarves if they are used carelessly.
This bomb works best when used with the Friendly perk, which reduces friendly fire damage by 50%. Each of the nine small bombs that come out of a Cluster Grenade when it lands does 360 damage.
Proximity Mine
You can set up proximity mines in an area before a swarm comes or before a fight with a Dreadnought to do a lot of damage. The only problem is that they can be slow to move when being attacked by Praetorians, but if you time and space them right, they can be very effective.
If the mine goes off and gets your friends in the blast, it’s important not to put them near them. They only do 110 damage each time they explode, for a maximum of 440 damage and four blasts before they die.
Incendiary Grenade
If the CRSPR Flamethrower wasn’t enough to satisfy your inner arsonist, Incendiary Grenades will definitely do the job. These guys spread flames over a large area that do 100 damage when they explode and 10 fire damage every second. This will do 160 damage over the course of six seconds after the explosion.
They are great for controlling crowds and can do much-needed damage to bigger Glyphids like Praetorians. With these grenades, friendly fire isn’t as dangerous because only 20% of the damage is done to your friends.
Cryo Grenade
When used properly, the Cryo Grenades can be very powerful. They can quickly freeze any enemy that gets hit by their blast, even Dreadnoughts and Bulk Detonators. On top of that, frozen Glyphids take three times as much damage, which is a great way to quickly kill big groups or swarms.
It also gets rid of those annoying Mactera, which break apart when they hit the ground. The deal is even better because each bomb does 250 damage. Be careful not to freeze other dwarves by accident, because the results could be deadly.
Sticky Grenade
Sticky bombs can be very effective against Dreadnoughts, especially the Hiveguard version, because they can stick and blow up multiple weak spots at once. Sticky Grenades are great for killing multiple enemies at once, such as Glyphid Swarmers, which can be very annoying when they bite your legs while you’re just trying to mine Nitra.
Each grenade gives 130 damage in Snake Game. It seems low, but when the ability to stick to things is taken into account, the rate is much more reasonable.
Pheromone Canister
Because these bombs make Glyphids go after whatever they land on, these guys make Praetorians and Oppressors almost useless. For example, if it is thrown at an Oppressor, all the Glyphids in the area will attack the poor animal.
It’s great when things are tight and you might be the last dwarf left and need to heal your team or give them space to fight. The best part is that you can’t accidentally hurt your team with them for the whole 15 seconds.
L.U.R.E
The L.U.R.E. is the more modern cousin when it comes to technology than the Pheromone Canisters. When used, the L.U.R.E. shows a hologram of a dancing dwarf that keeps Glyphids and other enemies from hitting you or your team. Heavy targets, like Praetorians and Dreadnoughts, are harder to take your attention away from.
A L.U.R.E. can only attract up to ten enemies at once, but that shouldn’t be a problem since you’ll probably kill the Glyphids while they’re preoccupied. When the L.U.R.E’s health is gone, the gadget sends out a shockwave that has a good chance of knocking out any enemies caught in it.
Voltaic Stun Sweeper
When the Sweeper is used, it electrocutes and stuns any targets it hits. They can also hit up to nine enemies before they break, making them one of the best ways to control a crowd when thrown. You can carry up to eight of them at once, which means you can stun up to 72 enemies at once. This is a lot more than other bombs.
The stun lasts for 8.5 seconds and is always on, so the swarms of Glyphid grunts can’t do anything about it. The Sweepers don’t work well against Oppressors and Praetorians because they have armour and the Sweepers don’t have the ability to break through armour. However, they are still very useful.
Shredder Swarm
The Shredders are self-operating robots that were first presented in the Rival Incursion event as enemies of the dwarfs. Since then, they have been changed to see dwarves as friends and everyone else as enemies. They don’t do much damage, but it adds up quickly if the target can’t move around.
They work best against small enemies like Naedocyte Shockers and Glyphid Swarmers, which they can easily destroy. They aren’t the best against big enemies, but when it comes down to it, they can do good damage, even on the dangerous Hazard 5 level. In its 40-second life, each Shredder can do up to 140 harm.
